Ballet
Ballet is a classical and foundational form of dance that emphasizes grace, precision, and discipline. It uses formalized steps and positions to express movement through intricate patterns and gestures. Ballet serves as the technical backbone of all other dance styles and is essential for a dancer’s growth and development. Our ballet classes follow the tradition and structure of the Royal Academy of Ballet.
Tap
Tap is a rhythmic style of dance where the dancer’s feet become a percussive instrument. Taps on the ball and heel of the shoe are used to strike the floor, creating sounds and patterns that align with music. Students learn time-steps, rhythm combinations, and intricate footwork in this lively and energetic class.
Jazz
Jazz is a dynamic and high-energy dance style rooted in traditional technique and set to upbeat, contemporary music. Classes focus on sharp movements, flexibility, leaps, turns, and stylized choreography that highlight performance quality and musicality.
Lyrical & Contemporary
Lyrical and contemporary dance blend the technical foundation of ballet and jazz with emotional expression and storytelling. These styles encourage dancers to connect personally with music through fluid movement, improvisation, and interpretive choreography.
Hip-Hop
Hip-hop is a high-energy, street-inspired dance style that includes elements such as breaking, locking, popping, and freestyle movement. Dancers train to develop rhythm, coordination, and confidence while moving to age-appropriate hip-hop music. Clean sneakers are required to maintain the cleanliness and safety of our studio floors.
Acrobatics & Tumbling
Acrobatics combines elements of gymnastics and dance to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and control. Students learn skills such as tumbling, contortion, partner work, and floor tricks. This style enhances overall athleticism and can be seamlessly incorporated into other dance genres.
Mini Movers
Move Dance Academy’s Mini Movers program is thoughtfully designed for children ages 2 to 5 and serves as the perfect introduction to the world of dance. These classes nurture self-confidence, self-esteem, gross motor skills, balance, flexibility, and social development in a fun, supportive environment.
Our engaging curriculum introduces young dancers to foundational dance technique and terminology in a way that is both age-appropriate and skill-focused. Classes emphasize proper placement, movement quality, coordination, musicality, and classroom structure, all while creating a fun and encouraging environment that supports early learning and builds confidence.
We’ve built a strong and structured program that allows even our youngest dancers to receive proper training right from the start. Parents can feel confident knowing their little ones are learning correct placement, movement quality, and foundational vocabulary—all while enjoying a playful and creative class experience.
At Move Dance Academy, we believe that introducing elite training in an encouraging, age-appropriate way gives our Mini Movers a strong advantage—not only in dance, but in sports, academics, and life as they grow.
